Work History

Company director

Gizmo Deals Ltd
Northampton, Northamptonshire
08.2006 - Current

Marketplace Growth & Seller Acquisition:
Cultivated key relationships with brands, sellers, marketplaces and agencies to drive business development across global marketplaces, including eBay.

Spearheaded product and brand launches, optimising product selection and trading capabilities for marketplace success.

Partnered with marketplace service providers (e.g., logistics, integrators) to expand seller onboarding and platform adoption by our company.

Strategic Business Development:
Formulated and executed data-driven acquisition strategies to expand market presence, focusing on high-potential sellers and brands in eBay’s target verticals.

Leveraged industry trends and competitor insights to innovate pipeline development, ensuring a steady stream of new products for trading cycles and long term.

Negotiated commercial terms with partners, securing favourable conditions while aligning with platform growth metrics (Conversion rates, CTR, ROAS, ACOS)

eBay Collaboration & Compliance Leadership:
Worked directly with eBay’s senior leadership (e.g., former VP Rob Hattrell, Head of Shipping Mike Pitt) to resolve compliance challenges, safeguarding seller trust and platform integrity. I have been integral to much of the changes eBay has made in the UK to combat tax and compliance evasion.

Advised UK government bodies (e.g., Public Accounts Committee, MP's, NAO, Treasury, Ministers) on marketplace VAT evasion, recovering £1.5B annually in lost tax revenue—showcasing deep regulatory expertise. This solved the largest VAT evasion issue in UK E-commerce history.

Operational Excellence & Team Leadership:
Led cross-functional teams (Operations, Data Collection, Risk) to streamline seller onboarding.

Mentored junior staff in sales pipeline management, seller engagement, and marketplace best practices.

Implemented technology upgrades to modernise workflows, enhancing scalability for seller acquisition.

Data-Driven Innovation:
Used analytics to identify root causes of marketplace challenges, driving decisions that improved seller performance and customer satisfaction.

Developed crisis management frameworks to mitigate risks (e.g., compliance issues, supply chain disruptions).
