  • A restructure within the CPW organisation led to my return to managing Indirect Procurement. In this position, I have acted as a business partner, supporting the transition of several services from CPW to the newly created Nestlé Procurement organisation. For services not covered by the Nestlé centre, I was responsible for their provision, primarily focusing on identifying licence partners for on-pack promotions. This involved collaborating with companies such as Walt Disney, Universal Studios, and Hasbro to facilitate various on-pack promotions, which contributed to additional sales for CPW.

  • Relationship/Issue Escalation Management - Developed a network within the off-shore providers at both management and team-worker level. Acted as an interface between the provider and Nestlé teams, facilitating issues and ensuring they were addressed. Acted as single face to all off-shore providers.
  • Continuous Improvement Program - Initiated and managed continuous improvement projects for service delivery. Worked with off-shore service providers to develop improvements, driven either by root cause analysis or technological advances.
  • Supplier Resourcing - Ensured resourcing matched Nestlé requirements. Provided first level interview of any replacement staff required, putting forward candidates with strong match against Nestlé competencies (Communication / Cultural fit).

  • Virgin Nigeria, a joint venture between Virgin Atlantic and Nigerian private investors, was a new ‘flag carrier’ airline for Nigeria, following the demise of Nigeria Airways. Operations started in June 2005.
  • I joined in December, 2004 as a Technical Services Manager, with responsibility for the delivery of all IT infrastructure services.
  • Projects delivered included:
  • Email: Implemented an outsourced email solution using an external ASP.
  • Desktops/Laptops: Designed and deployed Windows XP Build for standard IBM Desktops/Laptops across the organisation.
  • Server Infrastructure: Project managed the implementation of HP Blade Servers.
  • Back-up Solution: Implemented HP’s NAS Back-up Solution, with data first archived to NAS Storage, then copied to tape and stored off-site for disaster recovery.
  • Network – Wide Area: Rolled-out an outsourced data network covering 12 locations in Nigeria, Ghana, South Africa and Cameroon.
  • Network – Local Area: Project managed LAN installation for all offices.
  • Network – Cabling Infrastructure: Project managed the design and implementation of complete cabling infrastructure for 12 locations.
  • Environmental: Coordinated the stabilisation of power supply for a number of locations. Power distribution in Nigeria is poor in both quality and reliability, meaning that all computer equipment must be on UPS, with Generator Backup. At the Head Office, a self-contained unit was constructed, including UPS, Generator, Fuel Tanks, power monitoring equipment and a managed 24 hour alert system.
  • Call Centre: Project Managed implementation of Call Centre IT services using PABX and PC’s. The Call Centre had 100 seats and took over 50,000 calls in the first 2 months of operation.
  • Support: Established the IT support centre for infrastructure services. Support was provided by outsourcers, with central incident recording and monitoring via a Virgin Nigeria help desk.
  • Budgets: Managed capital and operating budgets for all IT infrastructure. Produced cost justifications for all investments.
  • I managed a number of Nigerian Suppliers; 21st Century for WAN, Dimension Data for cabling/power infrastructure, HP/IBM for PC’s and Servers, EDS and MCI for reservations/ticketing systems.

A Project Charter was prepared for a trial system to be installed on an existing Airbus A340, allowing the organisation to better prepare for the delivery of the new range of aircraft. In addition, a proposal for an Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) was developed to reduce the amount of documentation required in the cockpit.

  • Nestlé Purina PetCare, Europe’s largest Petfoods company, was formed in 2001 after the acquisition by Nestlé of Ralston Purina. Previously the company traded as Friskies PetCare.
  • Based in Paris, I managed a team of 4, responsible for the delivery of European Outsourced Activities: LAN, WAN, EUC, Data Centre and Email. The WAN was outsourced to Infonet and the LAN, Data Centre, EUC and Email were outsourced to HP. Primary responsibilities were to provide strategic oversight of the contracted service performance, to agree service improvement plans, to produce monthly service reports and relationship management.

  • Project Manager for an End User Computing Project for Y2K. The objective of the project was to rollout 3,500 PC’s and 120 NT Servers across 75 European Sites, building a single Windows NT Domain. The project was completed on time and to budget using Compaq as the outsourcing partner and DELL as the hardware supplier. The project included migration of CCMail infrastructure to the Nestlé Standard of MS Exchange; and also co-ordination between a number of stakeholder teams, including Nestlé, Friskies PetCare and Compaq.
