In my current role I am responsible for the smooth day-to-day running of a busy bar and 100-seat restaurant, ensuring excellent customer service with a strong focus on efficient table service and team coordination.

• Manage bookings and enquiries for a wide range of events including birthdays, corporate meetings, and seasonal functions via email, booking platforms, and social media

• Oversee daily operations to ensure smooth service and strong customer experience during busy periods.

• Lead and support the team on shift, maintaining high standards of service and communication.

• Carry out weekly ordering and monthly stock takes, ensuring accurate recording of stock levels, costs, and supplier transactions.

• Work closely with management and accounting teams to ensure stock and financial processes are correctly recorded and monitored.

• Handle customer queries and complaints professionally, resolving issues quickly and maintaining positive relationships.

• Ensure full compliance with licensing laws, including age verification checks (Challenge 25), supporting junior staff with correct procedures.

• Maintain awareness of food safety, hygiene standards, and dietary requirements, ensuring compliance at all times.

• Support team morale through clear communication, guidance, and leading by example during busy shifts.

My first job was at Hartnells Fresh Foods, a family-run business where I began working at 13 in a Saturday role. Over time, I took on more hours during school holidays, and after finishing my education, I stayed on in regular employment.

This role was a big part of building the work ethic I carry with me today. It taught me the importance of reliability, hard work, and taking pride in doing a job properly. I also developed several valuable transferable skills, including:

• Operating bakery machinery safely and responsibly.
