I have been working as a Health Care Support Worker in Day Surgery Unit from December 2017. As part of this role I complete baseline observations for patients before surgery and complete theatre safety checklists, ensuring a patient is ready for theatre. I also support patients after their procedure, which includes checking observations, blood sugars and bladder scanning and meeting their care needs. This role involves providing the patient with reassurance before and after procedures. I also communicate within the MDT, including escalating concerns.
