In May 2023, my family and I moved to live in California due to personal reasons. I immediately reached out willingly to many sports centres/academies, using my tennis experience of 12 years to help me in being employed by the Dana Point Tennis Academy (DPTA). I quickly realised how different the location and people were compared to my familiar surroundings at my previous job at the Shrewsbury Tennis Club.
Therefore, I had to adapt to being in unfamiliar circumstances, but I didn't let this phase me as I became a lead coach in many of the children's sessions.
I was given many different tasks to partake in, such as:
- Judging athletic performances, categorising participants and providing detailed feedback to coaches.
- Plan regular sessions using personalised practices to improve performance.
- Coached young individuals to refine specific techniques and enhance confidence within their tennis.
