I have just left school and I am looking for a part-time position, which will give me an insight into a health and social care setting. My mum works as a carer and I have always looked up to her, which is why I decided to follow in her footsteps as a carer too. I have always loved looking after people and getting to know new people. My future plans is to hopefully become a nurse and make a difference.
My hobbies are listening to music, socialising with my friends and going to concerts. I also enjoy watching TV and playing football with my family.
I went on work experience in Year 10 between the dates of the 6th of February to 9th of February, where I met patients on the Elective Orthopaedics ward in Southmead Hospital. I helped a healthcare assistant change bed covers, talk to patients about their lives and treatments and served them food. The most important role I had while I was on work experience was talking to the patients as an individual and get to know about their personal lives, which I love doing. This involved listening to the patients and being empathetic about their unfortunate circumstances. While on work experience, I met a patient that I bonded with. She called my school the week after my work experience to express how well I did and that I was a natural carer, which inspired me more to be a carer or a nurse in the future.
I would like to say that I am a compassionate and empathetic person I am organised and responsible I have a good sense of humour and love talking to new people I am a good communicator Furthermore, I am calm under pressure and non-judgemental Finally, I am flexible and keen to learn new skills and expand my knowledge
