An accomplished signalling engineer, CEM/CRE licensed by the Institute of Railway Signalling Engineers (IRSE) with over 23 years of extensive expertise in managing the safe and efficient delivery of signalling capital expenditure renewals and enhancements for Network Rail within the Scotland route. Current holder of IRSE licences, including Senior Engineering Manager (Project Engineering) and Engineering Manager (Testing & Commissioning), I have been recognised for my contributions to the Scotland route, having been a finalist at the UK Rail Awards for Rail Engineer of the Year and Rail Manager of the Year and Network Rail Employee of the month, having previously lead and developed the Network Rail Scotland route signalling delivery team i have extensive experience in providing guidance to multi-disciplinary CREs across the supply chain, with a focus on ensuring the timely engineering compliant execution of signalling support and project delivery services. Provide project and Contracts engineering management to the signalling installation and project delivery team.
Manage the signalling construction delivery department for Works Delivery Scotland whilst developing a growing successful team , increased business delivery output from £300k to £15 million by developing stakeholder relations and empowering the delivery team to deliver larger projects.
Provided project engineering support to the Scotland route, overseeing the delivery of signalling life extension works, level crossing renewals/upgrades, and a range of signalling enhancement projects. This involved providing crucial technical expertise to ensure the successful execution of a diverse range of rail signalling projects.
Supervise a team of signalling construction and testing staff responsible for executing maintenance and renewals within the Scotland route. Additionally, conduct signal testing, including SMTH and SWTH, as necessitated by project requirements.
Progressing through the signalling ranks from assistant technician to technical officer, my professional journey has encompassed diverse roles including SMTH tester, SWTH tester, installation team leader, and maintenance team leader. This journey has provided me with comprehensive experience and a deep understanding of the intricacies at various levels within the signalling domain.
Starting as an assistant signalling installer, learning the trade before progressing to the role of installer. Engaged in a variety of projects, including relay room re-wires and level crossing installations across the UK, I gained valuable hands-on experience in signalling installation practices.
