As a dedicated Registered Nurse, I am passionate about nursing people back to health through diagnosis and proper care. I have a specific passion for mental health and psychiatry nursing as a nursing specialty as I realized Mental Health as a subspeciality is key in promotion of health and prevention of illness. My greatest ambition is to work in an organization that promotes hard work creativity and participation in responsible decision making to help in provision of world-class healthcare services in promotion of health and prevention of illnesses as well as to help in the growth of the organization in all round aspects
1.Participating in Mental Health Act assessments and demonstrating an up-to-date knowledge of the roles and responsibilities of the nurse and its application in practice.
2.Performing pre-admission screenings and assess the mental health needs of patients under my care
3.Supporting Band 5 staff in their role as named nurse, facilitating responsible care coordination, care planning, implementation and clinical assessments.
4.Monitoring the wellbeing of patients and contribute to protecting individuals whose health and wellbeing is at risk in accordance with local policies including observation policy, risk management policy.
6.Administration of psychiatric drugs and observation of patients post drug administration
7.Assessing patient progress on the ward through close working with the ward team.
8.Maintaining clinical records in accordance with local policies.
9.Monitoring and maintaining health, safety and security of self and others in own work area as identified
10.Initiating quality improvement directives such as clinical audits, Essence of Care,
11.Supporting Band 5 staff in their role as Shift Coordinator and/or Nurse in Charge.
12.Undertaking and supporting team members through processes such as Planning. Professional Development Clinical and Managerial supervision
Contributing to the development of junior members of staff and students promoting an
environment conducive to learning.
13.Referring any inquiries out of my sphere of competence to the appropriate channels using line manager.
14.Participating in cross site Senior Nurse cover including nights, weekends and bank holidays offering and managerial support to other ward areas.
15.Supporting the Ward manager in developing effective ward rosters, managing skill mix issues and addressing staff shortages where necessary through effective communication with the ward team and Bank Nurse service.
16.Effectively negotiating annual leave with team members keeping accurate records in line with Trust policies.
17.Supporting the Ward Manager in managing staff sickness in an effective and timely manner as per Trust policies and maintain accurate records.
18.Diagnosis, development of plans of care, and educate both patients and families on behaviours related to mental disorders.
