I am a hardworking, high-achieving, and compassionate nursing student with a strong commitment to learning and professional development. I am dedicated to delivering safe, high-quality, patient-centred care, and I bring a proven track record of teamwork, leadership, and adaptability from diverse experiences in healthcare, volunteering, and academic settings. My previous experience in clinical placements, extracurricular activities, and work experience has helped me develop the skills necessary to meet the challenges faced by nurses with professionalism, resilience, and compassion. These experiences have strengthened my ability to communicate effectively, work collaboratively, and provide patient-centred care in a variety of demanding environments.

• Spinal Cord Injury Centre | I have gained hands-on experience in a wide range of clinical skills, including tracheostomy and wound care, pressure area care, moving and handling, personal care, catheter insertion and TWOC management, as well as medication administration both oral and intravenous. I am proficient in managing nutrition and hydration, administering subcutaneous injections, enemas, and suppositories, supporting patients’ mental health, and monitoring vital signs. These experiences have equipped me with the practical knowledge to deliver patient-centred care in an intense demanding yet rewarding environment.

• Cardiothoracic Surgical Ward | I have developed practical experience in wound care, chest drain monitoring and removal, pre-operation checklists, care plans, and admission and discharge procedures. I am skilled in monitoring vital signs, providing personal care, supporting moving and handling, and administering medications both orally and intravenously.

• Respiratory Ward | I have gained experience in medication administration, palliative care, handovers, performing ECGs and participation in multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings. I am skilled in care planning, bay management, wound care, safeguarding procedures, moving and handling, catheter care and insertion, and stoma care.

• Specialist Diabetes and Endocrine Ward | I have gained hands-on experience in insulin administration, NG tube insertion and care, and medication administration orally, intravenously, and via NG tubes. I can ensure meal plans are observed, assist with personal care, manage blood transfusions, wound care, care plan completion, infection control, and complete admission and discharge checklists.

• Community | I am experienced in adapting to different clinical environments and delivering a range of patient care, including insulin administration, wound care, suprapubic catheter management, pressure area checks, care planning, and palliative care. I have trialled new interventions for foot ulcers based on current evidence and escalated concerns remotely when needed. These experiences have strengthened my clinical judgement, evidence-based practice, and ability to provide safe, patient-centred care across diverse settings.

• General and Plastic Surgical Department | I have gained experience in a variety of surgical procedures and theatre practices, including aseptic techniques, scrubbing in, swab and instrument checks, draping techniques, and assisting with intubation. I have completed pre-operative checklists and observed surgeries such as C-sections, breast flap reconstructions, skin grafts, hysterectomies, and biopsies. These experiences have strengthened my understanding of surgical protocols, attention to detail, and ability to work effectively in high-pressure clinical environments.
