  • I am a band 3 Clerical Worker for the NHS and i work for the Patient advice and Laision Service at the University Hospitals of Derby and Burton.
  • we deal with concerns from the patients and relatives of the hospital.

duties include:

  • answering the telephone, actioning emails and voicemails and drop in service - we see patients and relatives face to face.
  • dealing with different queries and concerns via telephone/drop in service.
  • supporting patients with appointments and queries.
  • providing empathy and compassion and patience.
  • understanding and listening to all queries with compassion
  • de-escalating situations- we can come accross difficult situations with difficult scenories- e.g. a patient may be upset and angry as they have been discharged from A and E or an outpatient service and they feel unheard.
  • documenting all the patients concerns.
  • using Excel, word and typing letters to a high standard.
  • maintaining professionalism.
