I worked in education for 40 years until I retired. During the time that I was headteacher in Wiltshire and Gloucestershire, I was approached by the Local Authorities to join support and challenge programmes, working with schools in difficulty. In particular, along with 5 colleagues, I was part of the first Interim Executive Board in the country, during which time we were tasked with turning around a school in difficulty. In my own school, Great Rissington Primary, I led the school to achieve the Ofsted rating of Outstanding.
During my time as headteacher, I had the honour of providing support, through counselling, to colleagues, pupils and families. This remains an area of great interest to me, an area that I would like to pursue.
Since retiring, I have volunteered to support village activities and I am a Good Sam responder. I also completed my Samaritans' training.
I continue to have a passion for education and desire to help everyone to develop skills in whatever area they wish.
