  • Coordinated teaching and behaviour management approaches to facilitate the development of children aged 8-18 with complex needs - 70% of which were adopted and almost all have had adverse childhood experiences (Trauma). Many have multiple diagnoses, including; ASD, ADHD, Dyslexia, Foetal Alcohol Syndrome and PTSD. I was part of a team that achieved an 'Outstanding' inspection report in all areas and was awarded 'SEND School of the Year' by the Independent Schools Association (ISA).
  • Successfully facilitated an 8 year old school refuser with very complex needs, including ASD, sensory challenges, cognitive difficulties, trauma, social isolation, and a history of adoption, to return to school. My small team, with myself as his key worker, enabled him to access learning and find enjoyment in his school work as part of a class with 3 other students. This child now has 100% school attendance, can read and write, and has even made a friend.
  • Used individualised teaching techniques and gained a deep understanding, through observations, of each child's specific emotional, social and cognitive needs.
  • Developed healthy and helpful, professional and therapeutic relationships with students.
  • Designed, planned and implemented bespoke behaviour management techniques and learning experiences for each child, based on individual needs.
  • Observed children's responses to interventions and reported key findings.
  • Engaged in meetings to discuss findings to ensure a consistent and collaborative approach.
  • Conducted risk assessments and ensured a safe and appropriate learning environment.
  • Prioritised the safeguarding and welfare of young people and staff alike.
