Research & Publications

My Master's Degree thesis for fulfillment of the degree was: "Correlation Between Transcutaneous Bilirubin Estimation and Serum Bilirubin Measurement During and After Phototherapy".

The aim of the study was to evaluate the accuracy of transcutaneous bilirubin measurement from the covered and uncovered skin during and after phototherapy treatment and compare these values with total serum bilirubin performed at the same time. The study was conducted on a sample of 39 clinically jaundiced Egyptian neonates with unconjugated hyperbilirubinemia in NICU of Ain Shams University Hospital and Abdel Kader Fahmy Hospital. It was concluded from this study that: Noninvasive TCB measurement demonstrated significant accuracy compared to TSB measured by clinical laboratory methods in all cases. After phototherapy, noninvasive TCB measurement from covered areas of skin is more accurate compared to TSB than measurement from uncovered areas.

Volunteer Experience

Volunteer Clinical Mentor, on Youtube Platform.
I created a channel to help and guide young medical professionals with building their career and taking exams. The channel also helps anyone other than health professionals whose dream is to move and live in the UK on the short and long-term.

Improving the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) in Ain Shams University Children's Hospital, Egypt.
There was a lack of adequate hygiene in the unit, which resulted in widely-spread infection among the admitted babies. I led a team of 5 other residents, under the supervision of the unit consultants and administrators. We introduced a new infection-control strategy throughout the unit, and to be followed by any visitor of the unit. As a result of our team efforts, the infection rates within the unit dropped significantly, which much better outcomes throughout the following months.

Mass BCG vaccination campaigns.

I participated in frequent campaigns to poor villages around Cairo with my colleagues, offering free supportive medical care, health counseling and education.
