Volunteering for 1 week at Manchester blood testing laboratory gave me a great insight into the industry and future roles in biosciences.

During my time I was shown the process of how blood is tested from quality monitoring to testing for antigens present in the blood. I did my own blood grouping practical as well as being shown how all the machinery worked. Overall the experience gave me confidence and solidarity in the direction I wanted to go in as well as understanding the precise details of how a lab functions.
