I have worked in Childcare since leaving school and have worked in a variety of settings.
My nursing background has given me great experiences and opportunities to work with other professionals, developing excellent skills and be able to provide the best and most appropriate care to many children and their families.
I have had the opportunity to look after children in their own homes and in my own, forming very close relationships with both the children and their parents. I have forged lasting friendships with many of them.
I very much enjoy working as part of a team, making a difference to people’s lives and working in environments which involve helping and supporting people.
I am currently working as an as hoc nanny and have several families on my books.
I enjoy providing a range of stimulating and educational activities as well as taking the children out on exciting and interesting trips.
I look after the children in their own home, working with parents to establish and follow individual routines and provide high quality child care.
I look after a young lady who was born at 24 weeks gestation and as a result of being born extremely premature, has some complex medical needs.
I do ad hoc care as her Personal Assistant which involves assisting with her personal care, taking her out for walks, playing with her, taking her to Physiotherapy sessions and preparing and helping with her meals.
I worked alongside another childminder, specialising in providing care for children with additional needs/complex medical and health needs.
Due to our nursing backgrounds we were able to offer a childcare setting for children on oxygen, requiring tube feeding, tracheostomies etc.
We followed the Early Years Foundation Stage, observing and assessing the children and proving activities to encourage their development and work towards meeting their individual learning goals.
We offered home from home care for children aged from birth to 5 years and ensured that the children were offered a wide range of experiences, activities and outings.
During the Covid 19 lockdown I took on a temporary job as a Carer for a lady with a spinal cord injury.
This position was only for a short period but I stayed on and continued to work on a part time basis.
I worked as part of a team of carers, supporting the lady with personal care, preparing meals, administering medication and some household tasks.
This enabled her to remain living at home with her husband, receiving the care she needed to remain as independent as possible.
After qualifying as a Paediatric Nurse I began working in the Neonatal Unit at my local hospital. I developed a wide range of clinical nursing skills along with excellent communication skills.
I enjoyed working as part of a team in order to provide excellent care to premature babies and their parents.
I also worked on the Children’s Ward, providing family centred care to sick children.
After completing a Diploma in Nursery Nursing I became a nanny.
Over the years I worked for a number of different families, both as a daily nanny and a live in nanny.
I had sole charge roles whilst the parents worked full time and was responsible for the day to day care of the children.
I enjoy walking my dog
