- Once a week, and often at weekend events, I take part in the Army Cadet Force as a cadet sergeant. This role requires me to have leadership, problem-solving skills, and good teamwork ethics. This means I am able to communicate well with others and work well as a team to overcome challenges.
In my role as a sergeant, I take on responsibility for the planning and teaching of others on a weekly basis. This role also requires me to take in and relay instructions from senior unit members to provide an efficient outcome.
In addition to this my skills include;
- Handled rifles and shooting equipment safely and responsibly.
- Developed drill techniques for formal parade attendance.
- Learned navigation techniques through map reading and compass use.
- Built community connections by representing cadets at local outreach events.
- Led small teams during simulated operational exercises, honing leadership and tactical decision-making skills.
- Kept personal turnout smart and presentable to meet uniform standards.
- Supported new cadets through mentorship, providing guidance and encouragement to foster their development.
