I have recently qualified at Lincoln College completing an CACHE Level 2 in introducing caring for Children and Young People having completed my Level 1 in introduction to Early Years Setting and Adult Social Care the previous year. Additionally, I have been extremely fortunate to have been able to observe and participate in the development of my younger sister who is now aged 4 and match her development with the course content, particularly elements of the Early Years Foundation Stage Statutory Framework.
These past two years have given me the opportunity to gain a good grounding and increased understanding of childcare, the course has left me feeling excited and enthusiastic and I am looking forward to working in a stimulating and challenging environment where I can put the skills and experiences that I have learnt and developed during this time.
I am wanting to make a career within the childcare industry and I would like to develop my skills and grow as an Early Years Practitioner and I would like to gain more qualifications especially my Level 3 in childcare be it through apprenticeship or in house training.
I take pride in everything I do and i always strive to complete tasks to the highest of my ability. I work well as part of a team and respect professional boundaries. I work hard and I am very reliable and a good time keeper.
Childcare skills
Whilst completing the CACHE Level 2 I have developed the following skills and knowledge
Transferable skills
During the past two years I have also developed many other skills whilst enrolled in the Army Cadet Force, attaining the rank of Corporal before leaving at 18 due to ageing out of the service Many of these skills are transferable into a childcare settings and include the following-
Within the Army Cadet Force (ACF) I achieved the junior leadership role of Cadet Corporal due to my individual ability and merit. Cadet Corporals undertake instructor and leadership courses and are expected to command and manage larger groups of cadets and equipment. Throughout my time in the ACF I was able to take part in many different competitions all over the UK. One of which was when I represented my detachment and Lincolnshire in the county games. This consists of different activities like running, javelin and high jump. I also took part in the Captain Daniel Shepherd Trophy which involves many military activities and is a great competition to remember Captain Daniel Shepherd who tragically lost his life whilst serving in Afghanistan.
As part of my CACHE Level 2 I undertook a placement at the YMCA Woodlands nursery, this was a five day placement and was particularly helpful for me as it gave me the opportunity to understand the daily running of a early years setting and helped me understand the exact role of a childcare practitioner. I also gained a greater understanding of how children's safety is maintained, ensuring daily dietary requirements are safety met and I also participated in reading and playing with the children.
