The works are undertaken to facilitate the HS2 Phase 2A construction traffic movement and to ensure no additional queuing and delays in comparison to the Do-Minimum option, as a result of additional HS2 construction traffic.
  • As a highways engineer, I have been majorly responsible for following tasks:
  • Delegating tasks, monitoring progress, addressing technical queries to our counterparts in India team REC.
  • Review the design deliverables prepared by team of highway engineers and CAD technicians to ensure achieving high quality deliverables on time.
  • Prepared the technical reports including SCEW specification document, multi-disciplinary reports and drafting departure applications for National Highways and Local authority councils.
  • Maintaining efficient and proper communication within various disciplines, regarding various decisions and changes.

2021.03 - 2022.04
  • A1 Doncaster to Darrington - Phase 2, Highways England, UK
  • Conversion of 27kms of all-purpose 4 lane dual carriageway to smart motorway along with upgrading existing grade separated junctions to cater future traffic forecasts.
  • As a highway’s designer, I was responsible for undertaking design of a section 9km in length which involves mainline horizontal and vertical alignment design, carrying out central reserve and verge widening based on visibility analysis, corridor development in Civil 3D 2020 as per cross-sections defined in CD127 for various options, earthwork calculations, preparation of pricing forms and technical notes.
  • I was responsible for developing feasibility layouts for improving capacity of existing grade separated junction – J35. It involved developing almost 7 different options (using different merge and diverge layouts as described in CD 123 including free flow links).
  • ABLR Preliminary Design, Buckinghamshire Council, UK
  • Responsible for design of roundabout 2D layout by converting existing non signalized junction to a roundabout to improve the capacity and turning movements vehicles while connect various other private access. Carried out swept path analysis using vehicle track option in Civil 3D 2020. Also, designed the vertical profile to carry out feasibility analysis of approach arms.
  • A64 Hopgrove Junction, Highways England, UK
  • Stage 2 design of A64 Hopgrove involves development of an offline option for mainline of length 10kms to convert existing single carriageway to dual carriageway with design speed of 120kph.
  • I was responsible for providing technical guidance and solutions to carry out stage 1 design detailed assessment, preparation of design compliance reports, amend the design parameters to comply with DMRB standards such as horizontal geometry, vertical geometry, visibility analysis and production of various deliverables. Some of the other tasks involved were profile optimization based on SSD requirements and maintaining cut-fill balance, corridor development in Civil 3D 2020 based on cross section details as per CD127. I also undertook 2D & 3D design of Full grade separated junctions (half clover leaf interchange), compact grade separated junctions, left in left out junctions, and parking lay-bys.
  • I successfully delivered the GA drawings for public consultation, land boundary drawings, departure reports, detailed bill of quantities, design logs, assessment sheets to record each design assumptions and decisions taken in this stage of design.
  • Binley Cycleway Design, Coventry City Council, UK
  • 3D modelling of cycleway in urban location along with changes in junctions to maintain the proper cross fall along with design of road markings and traffic signs.
  • I was responsible for 3D modelling of cycleway track in compliance with LTN1/20, by modifying existing carriageway layout in urban location for a design speed of 20kph using Civil 3D 2019. I also undertook the modifications of at grade junctions due to conversion of a lane on either side of central line to cycleway.
  • It also involved traffic sign strategy, design of road markings and traffic signs along with their respective schedules. Involved in check in review process of drawings produced by CAD draftsman for final submission to client.

Graduate Engineer
