I am a 3rd year student currently studying Adult Nursing at the University of York. I have had a diverse range of placements including A&E and Oncology. The large variety of placements have allowed my skills to grow in different areas for example my clinical placements in A&E allowed me to work in high pressure environments so I have gained skills in triaging patients and making decisions more swiftly. Whereas in oncology, I improved the way I gave compassionate and patient centred care.
I have worked in various parts of the hospital including the eye clinic, radiology and theatres.
I worked in a GP surgery where I would read medical notes following this, I would summarise their notes into key medical problems and put them in order of importance I would then code this onto a computer.
