I was managing a 26 beds general medical ward 5 days a week and occasionally I was covering the acute medical take for PTWR. On the ward I had team of three resident doctors with no middle grade cover. Patients I was treating on the ward were from all age groups from over 18 to over 65s with acute, decompensated chronic and complex medical conditions. My job involved:
1-Daily ward round and drawing up investigations and management plans.
2- Leading Twice daily ward MDTs.
3- performing and teaching Bedside procedure like Parecetesis, pleural procedures under ultrasound guidance, Lumbar punctures etc.
4- Family meetings, complaints handling.
5- Teaching resident doctors and medical students.
6-Liaising with general practitioners and responding to their correspondence.
7- Arranging and leading MDTs for complex cases.
I was rated high from my colleagues, patients and the hospital management evidenced by the feedback I received.
1-General medical middle grade ward cover.
2- Acute medical take cover as a middle grade including days, nights, weekends and bank holidays.
3-Resuscitation team leader during medical on calls.

My job role involved covering Gastroenterology Ward which was a 33 beds unit receiving general medical and Gastroenterology patients. Apart from assisting with consultant ward round on two occasions in a week, I was responsible for providing middle grade cover to the junior doctors and run the ward smoothly. Apart from ward commitments I was covering day case unit for ascetic drains, after care of liver biopsy patients and teaching bedside procedures to junior colleagues.
I was part a dedicated respiratory team providing high standard care to public. My job role involved providing SPR cover on respiratory ward, assisting consultnant ward rounds and participating in regular multidisciplinary board rounds every morning. As a respiratory doctor, I was regularly performing chest ultrasound and pleural procedures on respiratory ward and rest of wards as required. Apart from respiratory work, I was on acute medical take rota including long days, nights and week ends. Engaged myself in learning and teaching activities on regular basis and attended chest ultrasound course to further improve my skills.
I took this role in November 2015 and I was working Monday to Friday providing SPR cover to two care of elderly wards. Apart from regular senior reviews and attending consultant ward rounds I was also inovlved in looking after medical patients who were outlied to non medical wards. I was actively involved in patient care and discharge planning and teaching and learning activities during this period.
During 2 years of Gastroenterology SPR work I was providing senior cover to two gastroenterology wards, and regularly providing gastroenterology cover for other wards (referrals). Had been regularly doing clinics 2-3 clinic per week.
Apart from Gastroenterology work I was on medical on call rota , working long days and nights for acute take. I had been actively involved in teaching and learning activities and have presented many interesting gastroenterology and general medical cases in medical grand round.
