Dr Thomas Godfrey

Ipswich

Summary

Enthusiastic, capable, and committed doctor with five years of diverse frontline experience, including nearly three years in acute medicine. I have also worked across a range of medical, surgical, psychiatric, and occupational health specialties. Recognised for effective multidisciplinary collaboration, resilience in high-pressure environments, and the ability to manage complex caseloads independently—often exceeding the expectations of my grade.

I have consistently been entrusted with positions of responsibility, reflecting my reliability, clinical judgement, leadership, and strong work ethic. I am known for my relentless positivity and willingness to go the extra mile. This is exemplified by my Trust awarding me in recognition of my communication skills, clinical competence, and commitment to safe, patient-centred care. I am proud to be leading a food redistribution project at Ipswich Hospital, reflecting my ambitions to not only support the patients in front of me but also the wider community.

In addition to this I thrive in teaching environments, having organised and delivered SIM teaching during my foundation years and am keen to seek out similar opportunities in my next position.

I am now eager to progress further within acute specialties; particularly Emergency, Acute, or Intensive Care Medicine—where I can continue to contribute as a proactive, values-driven team member.

Work History

Acute Medicine Locum Senior House Officer

Ipswich Hospital
10.2022 - Current
  • During my time at Ipswich Hospital, I have covered a diverse range of responsibilities within the acute medical team with regular opportunities to assess acute patients in the AMU/SDEC as well as on the medical take.
  • As a result of my performance, I was selected to join the core team on one of the new GIM wards. In this role, I worked full time as one of only two junior doctors responsible for the care of 27 acute medical inpatients. I independently conducted daily ward rounds, oversaw patient management through to discharge, and coordinated care with the wider multidisciplinary team. This high-responsibility position sharpened my clinical judgment, taught me to navigate the expectations of patients and families, and strengthened my ability to judge when to escalate concerns/involve other specialties. This has been the most demanding and formative chapter of my clinical career to date-deepening both my medical acumen and my passion for delivering high-quality, compassionate care under pressure. (18/12/23 - 07/08/24 and 18/11/24-06/03/24)
  • In addition to this I have had exposure to multiple medical specialties, covering patients on the renal, gastroenterology and respiratory wards as well as having the opportunity to cover the acute respiratory care unit.
  • I completed a taster week in emergency medicine where I shadowed across a variety of different settings including majors, minors and paediatrics.
