Biological Sciences graduate, preparing to begin a Graduate Entry Medicine degree at the new Pears Cumbria School of Medicine in Carlisle. I am committed to continuing my work as a Healthcare Assistant, which has been instrumental in shaping my approach to compassionate, person-centred care. My frontline experience in healthcare has developed my ability to communicate clearly, remain empathetic under pressure, and build meaningful relationships with patients and colleagues alike. It has also given me a deeper understanding of the human side of medicine; insights I plan to carry forward both in practice and in my medical training. Continuing in this role in Carlisle while studying will allow me to stay grounded in patient care, further develop my clinical awareness, and grow into the kind of attentive and inclusive doctor I aspire to become.

Southmead Hospital - Ward Support Volunteer

I helped to deliver refreshments and prep menus for meal times, considering patients specific dietary requirements such as levels 4/5/6 diets. In addition, I also talk and speak to a lot of the patients undergoing difficult times within their life’s which have enabled me to be compassionate when people are most of the time on their own in hospital. Knowing that every patient's count, and by talking to them may improve their quality of life especially for those who may never leave hospital or have no visitors.

I helped raise money for the Julian house charity in Bath, which provides accommodation and services for the homeless, helping them to get back on their feet. The team and I raised the money for doing leisure fundraisers with our local school. Through this, I learned to communicate and collaborate collectively with a group to help others which I now implement in my further development.
