I am a compassionate professional seeking the role of SEN Teaching Assistant, bringing strong communication from prior roles in education and childcare as well as roles in mental health. I am also proficient in creating supportive learning environments and adapting methods to meet diverse needs as I have worked in a variety of learning environments including with forest schools and Montessori style learning. My aim is to foster an inclusive atmosphere that encourages student growth and development.   • In this position I frequently collaborated with teachers to implement personalised education plans, increasing student progress in a multitude of areas, including communication, activities of daily living and engaging in play.
  • I was also able to provide one-to-one support to students, promoting confidence and independence as well as helping with emotional regulation and using sensory resources.
  • I was also able to provide emotional support during challenging situations and helped pupils find strategies that would help them during challenging moments. For example, with one pupil when they were distressed they found squeezing oranges to make orange juice very calming.

  • Throughout my placements I developed a wide variety of individualised treatment plans with focus on patient's specific needs and condition. This varied through a wide range of placement settings, from being on placement in Trauma Wards to in the community and in mental health.
  • On my placements I also assisted in arranging equipment for each session, focusing on what would be suitable for each individual and their home environment, ensuring patient focused care.
  • In university and on placement I was also able to demonstrate strong knowledge of occupational therapy principles by assisting in patient evaluation and using outcome measures, as well as developing my own outcome measure to use after therapeutic interventions.
  • For the recovery through activity programme I also created engaging therapeutic activities, increasing patient participation and interest. These activities involved: exploring the community,art and music and meeting other individuals through social coffees and walks.
