- As a session staff member within SSF, I help develop critical life skills through sports and physical activity to create a positive role model for the young people to look at and inspire them to become. For me, the safety of the young people is my main priority, which plays a massive impact in my sessions as I make sure I have spoken to every young person about their week and any concerns they might have.
- We create positive pathways for all the young people at the session, support their decisions and help them achieve their dreams. I also feel that we, as a group, approach the current challenges within the community with targeted sessions. These could include developing strategies for stress, anxiety, confidence and many more. We add specific support services into the session if the young person wants more support or wants to understand the topic more in-depth; this could be local charities or community resources to Scottish-wide helplines and websites.
- Throughout the sessions, there is a young person-centred approach and believe that their voice should be heard and implemented into the session.
