In my professional career I spent most of my working life in Devonport Dockyard in Plymouth Devon. I was an apprentice for five years before I qualified as a Fitter and Turner and the remainder of my working life was carried out in the dockyard until I took early retirement in 2012.
I enjoyed retirement for several years and then decided to return to work as I wanted to keep myself busy and meet different people.
I was lucky enough to obtain a position at Derriford Hospital as a cleaner which I loved it was great to be involved and have banter with patients and staff.
I worked for NHSP which is the bank side of the domestic side and as we are all aware Derriford have money worries and decided to lay off some of their bank staff to save money unfortunately I was one of those to go.
I learnt a lot about my job and completed several on line courses to ensure I kept up to date with COSHH , Caldicott Law, Mental Health and several other important issues whilst doing my job.
I'm reliable, honest and hard working, I can work on my own or in a team. I am Loyal and always give a hundred per cent, I feel I have strong communication skills and like to learn different things by training on the job. I feel I would be an asset to your team.
Carried out domestic duties on wards and the outer area of the hospital
when required.
I was also tasked to do the Sisters offices and the nurses room used for breaks which gave a good feeling as they weren't able to find the time to do whilst working.
I washed the ward floors taking care to remember COSHH wash beds down and do deep cleans in the bays and the rooms when required.
I used PPE on several occasions due to Covid and other infectious illnesses.
I cleaned the patients toilets and bathrooms and if I had time a patient who had nobody visiting would want to have a chat whilst I worked
Over the years I have gained many different skills I am calm under pressure, I feel I have good communication skills and enjoy my work and can be a good team player
