As a dedicated Registered Nurse with a background in midwifery, I have built a career centred on women's health, driven by a passion for empowering and supporting women.
With extensive experience in primary care, I have continually expanded my clinical skills backed up with accredited modules including Family Planning; Clinical Examination and diagnostics; Non Medical Prescribing and Mentorship; FSRH LoC IUD; FSRH SDI; Vaginal ring pessary management.
I feel I am a safe, confident and assertive practitioner. I have the ability to integrate well with both non clinicians and clinicians. I am conscientious, motivated and committed to delivering quality nursing care and developing new services.
I have been involved in setting up a Women's Health Hub for Central Liverpool Primary Care Network since 2021 relocating in 2023 to manage a nurse led team. Setting up and leading a WHH for Central Liverpool PCN is both challenging and inspiring. The role demands balancing strategic vision with practical implementation, requiring careful planning, resource allocation and adaptability to overcome any obstacles. However, the positive impact of creating a trusted supportive space for women's health makes the challenges worthwhile.
The role involved being responsible for providing a full range of practice nurse services. The role evolved and I acted as lead nurse from 1998 and was responsible for training and mentoring new staff, student nurses and college students.
I was employed as a Registered Midwife responsible for caring for women, their partners and families before, during and after childbirth. This post enabled me to gain a broad experience and develop good clinical skills in midwifery and neonatal care. I was involved in team midwifery from May 1998 leaving to pursue a role within practice nursing but continued on the midwifery bank until June 2001.
