I am currently 58 years old and have recently retired from a lengthy career as a police officer in Lancashire Constabulary
Prior to finishing my career at Policing Headquarters I was the local Community Beat Officer for the Docklands area of Preston and as such I have reasonable knowledge of the City
Prior to this I was a printer for 12 years or so and before that I worked in the motor trade so have a reasonable knowledge of vehicles including the upkeep and maintenance of them being a car enthusiast and into bodywork detail also helps
Having worked in the police for 25 pensionable years I have gained many attributes and skills which have stood me in good stead for all life can throw at you, dealing with countless victims and witnesses in a vast amount of incidents from minor to critical in this diverse and demanding environment
I have exceptional social skills and would say my communication and understanding of people is one of my best assets I can remain calm in the most demanding of situations whilst staying professional and understanding in the process and providing a service with care and an assured approach
Working as a police officer allows you to work as part of a team in many situations but just as often you are expected to work alone as well but either way I feel very comfortable working solo or with others
Throughout my policing career I have driven numerous sized and powered vehicles including long and short wheel based vans I have also passed an extensive policing driving course and I am very proud to have no points on my driving licence
I also have private experience in towing vehicles due to some recent caravanning
Divisional Commanders recommendation
Whilst working as a police officer I was awarded the merit of divisional commanders recommendation for the hard work and dedication I did whilst being the first offficer in the Country to obtain numerous Asbo’s on a number of organised crime group offenders.
