Provide examples of your past experience working in a busy customer service environment
For the past three years I have worked as a police constable for Cheshire Police which I thoroughly enjoyed, dealing with all members of society Constantly dealing with victims who expect the best and most professional service It was important that no matter how busy I was, to stay calm and professional, and ensure everyone was listened too and treated with respect and courtesy I learnt how to build trust behind a uniform most people didn’t like and mostly deal with challenging people in difficult environments I experienced exactly how hard busy customer service can be, but also how rewarding
Prior to joining the police I had always worked in public facing jobs I first started working at a trampoline park which built my confidence in speaking to members of the public I had to enforce rules on the equipment and learn how to communicate with all ages of the public Part of my role was to run children parties During one particular party a young child aged 3, was refusing to leave the party room and was crying under the table I used my initiative, problem solving skills and communication to sit under the table with the little boy and read a book which was in his party bag The boy began to trust me and cheer up which resulted in him leaving the party The parent of the boy later sent an email to the company thanking me for my hard work I then worked as a waitress in a busy restaurant at a garden centre which built on the things I had previously learnt
Give an example of a time when you have been required to gather comprehensive information and how have you accurately recorded this information
Whilst working as a Police Constable with Cheshire Constabulary I was the officer in charge of a serious and complex domestic abuse case Throughout the full investigation I had to gather a significant amount of evidence and information to secure charges for multiple criminal offences I had to make sure that every piece of information and evidence was recorded accurately and in the correct places ensuring the crown prosecution service were able to make a charging decision with all relevant information
I used Cheshire police systems and the police national computer to gather sensitive information about all parties involved I then had to gather a significant amount of information regarding the relationship, each individual and the alleged criminal offences To do this, I interviewed the suspect who was in company of a solicitor, spoke to the victim on numerous occasions obtaining statements, speaking to their family and reviewing thousands of messages on both the suspect and victims phones All the information I had acquired had to be recorded properly on the occurrence enquiry log, different forms and on the casefile to ensure transparency, honesty and integrity This resulted in four charges being bought against the suspect
Describe a time when you have worked as part of a team to achieve a specific goal and what did you do and why?
As a police officer everything you do requires teamwork, whether this is with the control room, colleagues, members of the public, other emergency services or partner agencies The main goal is always to protect and preserve life
On one particular day we received a call of an unconscious male with CPR taking place at a gym in Macclesfield Myself and a colleague were first on scene, we had constant contact with the control room who provided updates, including the ETA of Paramedics On arrival, a member of gym staff was administering CPR, we immediately took over chest compressions and my colleague and I worked as a team to ensure we were able to maintain chest compressions until the ambulance arrived We worked with gym staff to ensure that paramedics were able to locate the patient quickly on arrival When paramedics arrived communication and team work were crucial to ensure all relevant information about the patient and the background to the incident were shared Working with paramedics, colleagues, the control room, members of the public and gym staff we were able to find out the actions of the man prior to his collapse, his identity and his next of kin Through giving chest compressions we were able to get a weak pulse back Once the patient was in the care of paramedics my colleague and I attended the male’s address to pass the devastating news to his next of kin and working with colleagues we were able to get them to the hospital in time to say goodbye
