Summary of Daily Routine

Working as a Mental Health Nurse with children and young people. My daily routine involved delivering structured mental health assessments and contributing to individualised, holistic care planning. I undertook comprehensive assessments incorporating clinical interviews, observation, review of historical information, and ongoing evaluation to inform formulation and care plan reviews.

I routinely completed and contributed to risk assessments, including self-harm, suicide, emotional dysregulation, and safeguarding concerns, responding promptly to changes in presentation. I delivered brief, evidence-based interventions to support anxiety management and emotional regulation, adapting communication to meet developmental needs.

I worked collaboratively with MDT colleagues, sharing assessment findings to support coordinated, child-centred care. Parents and carers were actively engaged as key partners, recognising the importance of multi-informant input within assessment processes.

All clinical documentation was completed accurately and contemporaneously in accordance with the NMC Code, NICE guidance, and service policies.

I managed aggression and behaviour that challenges using trauma-informed de-escalation techniques, maintaining safety and therapeutic engagement including serving of medications. Safeguarding was central to my role, with consistent identification, escalation, and documentation of concerns in line with policy.
