Volunteering

  • 2023-2026 Growbaby- Women from the low socioeconomic backgrounds and vulnerable populations e.g. asylum seekers are referred to Growbaby to shop for items for their pregnancy, babies, and children for free. I take on appointments and utilise my verbal and non-verbal communication techniques to help them. I also provide health promotion information and utilise basic midwifery knowledge to help them to prepare and calm their anxieties.
  • 2021-2025 Local church- Through a local church i help the homeless by supplying food and hot drinks.
  • 2020-2021 COVID-19 Pandemic- During lockdown I would collect shopping and prescriptions for the vulnerable individuals in my local community. I would also be available for friendly conversations and often cook hot meals for individuals whose family could not visit.

Positions of Responsibilities

  • 2022-2026 Case loading- During my midwifery degree I had a minimum of 3 women on my case load throughout each academic year. I attended their antenatal appointments, scans, delivery and postnatal visits. Through the 4 years my responsibility increased with me providing care with minimal supervision in my final year.
  • 2024-2025 Chair of a leadership Learning Set Group in collaboration with an NHS leader.
  • 2022/2023 Peer mentor- During my 2nd year of midwifery I took on the role of a peer mentor for four 1st year students. For this role I utilised and built on my leadership skills by guiding them through university. This aided in my confidence and developed my professional communication.
  • 2019/2020 Mentor for education- During sixth form I attend a lesson a week with the students from the year below and taught them my chosen topic. This developed my collaboration, leadership, and presentation skills.

Interests

I undertake physical exercise regularly to maintain health and wellbeing, which helps me to stay motivated and committed. I enjoy reading books and listening to midwifery podcasts; these enable me to have a work-life balance whilst also broadening my knowledge.
