I am currently working in ENT OPD Department. It is a very fast paced department which we provide a wide range of outpatient clinic matters relating to ENT conditions. Our main duties are providing supervision and leadership to the nursing and admin team within ENT Outpatient. Acting as a chaperone and assisting the doctors as necessary with examination and procedures. Participating and managing the smooth running of clinics, communicating delays and information to patients and their relatives and working in proactive and problem solving way. I did work in CSSTU/ Centenary Wing as haematology/oncology nurse. It is a Day case unit for both Oncology & Haematology that provides administration of blood products and cytotoxic chemotherapy treatment. I am responsible for supporting and caring for a patient throughout their cancer journey. To educated about their disease, treatments and expected side effects. Responsible for the safe administration of various chemotherapy agents while providing quality and compassionate care including quick and accurate patient assessment, inserting IV's and assessing PICC lines, Groshong line etc, caring and maintaining the patients IV access, and patient education. I also did work in Medical SDEC ( Formerly Known as Ambulatory Care). It is a very fast paced setting that we assess patients quickly but safely and accurately, discussing symptoms in order to determine the possible cause and severity of the medical problem like Heart Failure, Asthma, COPD, PE, DVT etc and confer with the doctors to determine the general health and well-being of our patients. Communication with the patient is also an important part of being an ambulatory care nurse. We need to explain the different illness, medical procedures etc, in a way that patients can easily understand and comprehend. I also did enjoy working as a Cardiac Cathlab nurse for nearly four years and did some on-call shifts which I found very rewarding. I did nurse in-charge/coordinator shifts in cardiac centre. I am scoped in removing femoral sheath, IV cannulation, do blood extraction, TR band management and complication, ECG interpretations, Nurse-led discharging and discharge planning. I also work as a scrubbed nurse inside the Cathlab. I am also trained to perform venesection, Rituximab infusion, Infliximab infusion and other kinds of treatment which we normally do in Planned Care Unit. I was been redeployed in A & E since the easing of restrictions of lockdown due to Covid 19. I appreciate and enjoying working in a very fast paced setting like A & E. i also keep doing bank shifts in A & e up to now. I had experienced the role of Developmental Deputy sister role in Medical SDEC for 6 months which I have gained a lot of knowledge and learned a lot on dealing with challenges. I am a Superuser, Cascading nurse for Blood transfusion, and a Practice assessor for students. I do act as a mentor/coach students, TNA’s, HCA’s , newly qualified students and international nurses etc. I enjoy teaching and sharing my knowledge to my work colleagues and students and I find it so rewarding. I also have attended a leadership training course last October of 2023. Now I think is the time for a new challenge. I have been qualified for almost 26 years now and I am looking for a career progression which I can share my knowledge, my skills and boost my confidence more. Provides nursing care for ear, nurse and throat patients in accordance with established standards and policies.
Centenary Wing and Chemotherapy Supportive Treatment Unit ( CSSTU) is a day case elective admissions for both Oncology & Haematology Chemotherapy for malignant disease are admitted to the Centenary Wing. The Centenary Unit is a dedicated cytotoxic chemotherapy unit with day case provision for supportive treatments being provided on the 'hub' unit, the Chemotherapy services Supportive Treatment Unit. As a Haematology/oncology nurse, your main duties are to support the patient throughout there care, to monitor them, to develop and implement treatment plans, administer medication, to advocate for the patient and educate patients and families on the diagnosis and treatments. To provide infusion therapy, which entails the administration of prescribed intravenous chemotherapy drugs, as well as pre- and post-treatment patient care. The oncology nurses operates the chemotherapy equipment and continually monitors the patient during treatment, typically working in a clinical setting under the supervision of a physician.
An ambulatory care nurse is a nursing professional that treats patients seek routine medical care for acute and chronic illnesses usually working with individuals on an outpatient basis only. The ratio of nurses in this area is 1:14 and is composed of a head nurse, charge nurse, medication nurse and a nursing attendant.
