• At a University of Cambridge residential, I gained laboratory experience in genetics, developing analytical and critical thinking skills, also exploring public healthcare systems, ethical dilemmas and the immune system.
• At a University of Cardiff residential I created a dental impression based on a mannequin. I replicated a model of a tooth using clay to enhance my manual dexterity skills. I analysed x-rays of the oral cavity to understand the effects of gum disease such as receding and inflamed gingiva. The dental students supported me in understanding some of the General Dental Council principles.
• Researched how oral health affects systemic health, understanding the strong link between the effects of periodontitis and the immune system's inflammatory response to gum disease, further expanding my knowledge on the oral microbiome as well as the effects of the dental biofilm.
