- Working on family and friends:
- First, I prep the client's nails with a 240-grit file, shaping them and removing the shine from the nail plate. Get the right size nail tip. Once I have removed the shine from the nail plate, I apply the tiptop to the nail plate. Once the tips are on, cut the length (if they want them shorter), file with a 180-grit file, and apply dehydrator and primer to the nail bed.
- Second, I get the acrylic powder and monomer ready to apply to the client's nails, I get a size 10 acrylic brush, place brush in the monomer and wipe one side of the brush against the glass jar, tap the wet side of the brush on to the acrylic powder (3 taps) and apply to the nail, shape it out to the length of the nail and keep going till you are got the desired apec and allow to dry.
- Third, once the acrylic is dry (I can tell when it is dry, and if you tap a nail file on it, it will make a tapping sound), I grab the 180-grit file again and file the acrylic nail to ensure it has a smooth finish.
- Finally, I will apply a base coat and cure under the lamp for 60sec – 90 sec (depending on how long it needs to be cured), I will then grab whatever colour the client would want on their nails and add one or two coats (cure between layers), some clients like stickers or gems so will get a nail glue or glue for sticking gems on and then once that has dried then apply a top coat (glossy or matt) to their nails cure for the last time and then I will apply cuticle oil to their nails. I will advise my clients to apply cuticle oil every day till their next appointment.
