Thomasine O'Sullivan

Manchester,Lancashire

Summary

I am an interdisciplinary artist based in Manchester. My work focuses on pieces which combine music with movement and theatre which is explored within my body. I also work within different musical mediums, such as piano playing, singing, and conducting. My most recent major composition was one called, 'Salvation'. It featured me and two other performers performing gestures with a large ensemble behind us. This was taken in turns with me conducting that ensemble and singing with them at points. The current project I am working on will explore the body, the voice, the piano, and objects within the space of my mind and body as a performer.

Work history

Celesta Player

Guildford Youth Symphony Orchestra
Guildford, Surrey
08.2024 - 08.2024

This experience involved playing the Celesta in Gustav Mahler's Sixth Symphony. The experience was highly valuable to my work as a composer, as it greatly improved my understanding of symphonic structure, orchestration, and extended harmony in a very hands on way.
