I am currently a final year Physiotherapy student at Manchester Metropolitan University, seeking a post graduate job. During my time at university I have engaged in multiple placement opportunities, engaging in a variety of physiotherapy specialties, providing me a great knowledge of all aspects of physiotherapy. I have had the opportunity to work with a variety of demographics whilst on placement and whilst working as a assistant swimming teacher, improving my ability to adapt my practice.

  • Communication was essential when on placement and when working with children While on a Physiotherapy placement, I ensured I interacted with patients regularly to create a rapport and ensure they understood treatments non-verbal communication was essential when on my MSK outpatient placement, as I was required to send letters to patients GPs and email patients with exercise programmes Working within multidisciplinary team, while on a general surgery placement, allowed me to strengthen my ability to work effectively with other healthcare professionals and contribute to patient care discussions
  • During an MSK outpatient placement, I was able to take a lead on developing and delivering individualised rehabilitations plans, providing patients with evidence-base exercises and mobility work Additionally, I was able to adapt treatment based on patients experiences with the exercise prescriptions provided
  • I have had the opportunity to engage in subjective and objective assessments of different conditions during many different clinical placements I ensured I received extensive patient medical histories, presenting conditions and identify any red flags Additionally, carrying out assessments such as: testing range of motion, muscle strength tests and special tests I actively engaged in the development of tailored rehabilitation plans, adjusting treatments based on patients response to the treatment
  • During placement, managing my own caseload strengthened my ability to organise and prioritise tasks, and adapt to changes to schedules I learned to manage tasks such as: delivering treatments and assessments, completing clinical notes and planning times patients were seen
  • I have engaged in independent and peer reflection with my previous educators to develop my practice and regularly seeking feedback from others Independent reflection allowed me to set goal for my practice and develop self awareness
  • Working within a physiotherapy team whilst on a neuro rehabilitation placement strengthened my teamworking skills by contributing to multidisciplinary team meetings regarding patient care, using information provided by different professions to adapt my interventions I have been able to contribute to team dynamics by being reliable and proactive in treatment and easily approachable I am able to adapt to the needs of the multidisciplinary team
