Summary

I am passionate about empowering pupils to become independent learners. I carefully scaffold learning to support pupils in moving from guided practice to confident independence. I consistently promote high standards of achievement and behaviour, ensuring pupils understand that effort, resilience and perseverance are key drivers of success. I plan lessons that are engaging, interactive and meaningful, enabling pupils to make connections with prior learning and real-life experiences. Retrieval practice is embedded across my teaching to strengthen long-term memory and secure key concepts, ensuring learning is both deep and sustained. I place reading at the heart of my practice. My passion for reading led me to take a leading role in redeveloping the school library, ensuring it became an inclusive, engaging and purposeful space. Through high-quality text selection, pupil involvement and strong links with the local library, I have successfully promoted reading for pleasure and strengthened pupils’ engagement and confidence as readers.
