Summary

I would really appreciate the opportunity to work as a Residential Support Worker with your company. Although I haven't worked in residential childcare before, it's something I've wanted to do for a long time. I enjoy helping people, and I feel that supporting children and young people through difficult times would be a truly rewarding career.

A few years ago, I actually interviewed for a Residential Care Worker position at Loppington house and was offered the job. Unfortunately, at the time I had two young children and, financially, I just couldn't make it work, so I had to turn the opportunity down. It's something I've always remembered, and now that my circumstances have changed, I feel it's the right time to pursue the career I originally wanted.

For many years, I have worked for myself, and being self-employed has taught me valuable life skills that I know would transfer well into this role. Running my own business has meant being reliable, organised and self-motivated every single day. It has taught me how to communicate with a wide range of people, solve problems calmly, manage my time effectively and take responsibility for my own work. Most importantly, it has given me a strong work ethic and the determination to always see a job through, even when things become challenging.

I've also spent many years raising my own 3 children into adulthood, which has taught me a great deal about patience, understanding, resilience and the importance of being there for someone when they need you most. Being a parent has shown me that every child is different and that sometimes what they need most is someone who listens, stays calm and never gives up on them.

I understand that children living in residential care often have experienced difficult situations in their lives and can sometimes express their emotions in challenging ways. I know these situations can be complex, but I believe my calm nature, common sense and caring personality would help me build trusting relationships while working as part of a supportive team. I don't pretend to have all the answers, but I am willing to learn, listen and work hard every day to give children the care, stability and encouragement they deserve.

People who know me would describe me as reliable, approachable, patient and down to earth. I stay calm under pressure, enjoy working with others and always try to treat people with kindness and respect. I,m not scared of cleaning , like cooking ,when i say that its edible , and I'm always happy to roll my sleeves up and help wherever I'm needed. I believe in leading by example and doing my best every day.

I hold a full, clean UK driving licence and consider my self as a calm ,safe ,professional chauffeur . I'm happy to complete an enhanced DBS check and any training or qualifications needed for the role.

Outside of work, I enjoy fishing, cycling, swimming, camping, going to the gym, motorsport, music and the occasional music festival. Most importantly, I love spending time with my family, especially my grandson. Family has always been a huge part of my life, and I understand just how important positive relationships and support can be.

I'll be honest, and willing to learn new things and I'm not afraid to ask questions if it helps me improve. I enjoy challenging myself and would fully embrace any training, qualifications or development opportunities that come with the role.

Although I don't have direct experience working in residential childcare, I believe I have the life experience, a genuine caring empathetic nature, and and a real desire to make a positive difference. I know this role won't always be easy, but I'm not looking for an easy job. I'm looking for a meaningful one where I can support children and young people, be someone they can rely on, and continue learning and growing within the role.

Thank you for taking the time to read my CV. I would genuinely welcome the opportunity to meet with you and discuss how my experience, values and commitment could make me a positive addition to your team.
