I’m currently studying A-levels and have been playing football for Dromara for the past five years, which has helped me develop teamwork, discipline, and commitment. Alongside this, I’ve worked as part of the bar staff at the Belmont House Hotel in Banbridge, where I built my communication, organisation, attention to detail, time management, problem-solving, and numerical skills in a fast-paced environment. I’d like to think the skills I’ve developed through school, sport, and work will give me a strong foundation for a future career in Quantity Surveying.
I have three years’ experience working in the hospitality sector, including eight months as a waiter, where I developed strong communication, organisation, and time-management skills in a fast-paced environment. The role required accuracy when taking orders, handling bills, and processing payments, helping to build strong attention to detail and confidence working with numbers — skills that align closely with cost measurement, estimating, and financial control in Quantity Surveying. Regular interaction with customers and colleagues strengthened my ability to communicate clearly and professionally, while resolving issues under pressure developed practical problem-solving skills. I’d like to think the skills I have learnt can help me to succeed in Quantity Surveying.
