Before accepting the job as co-ordinator, I volunteered at the IFA for one year. This experience vastly improved my communication skills and teamwork as I co-operated with other coaches and also children in training sessions. It has taught me to listen and learn from others, and take a lead in difficult situations. I have completed safeguarding training, and also First Aid as part of this role.
During lockdown, I learnt the art of woodturning and turned this hobby into an online business, selling unique pieces. From this I developed a sense for customer relations. Time management and profit and loss concepts have been valuable experience in this role to develop these skills essential for a workplace.
- Excellent inter-personal skills honed through my volunteering and business experience
