After taking early retirement I started up my own business.
This included preparing account and tax returns then submitting them to
HMRC and Companies house.
I also did work freelance for local accountants doing the accounts of some of their more challenging clients and getting involved with enquiry work they had doing analysis of business records and giving advice on tax legislation.
I started as an investigator checking both Self Employed and Companies tax returns.
Reviewing all their business records and analysing them for tax evasion.
If there was tax evasion then I would negotiate a settlement for the tax, interest and penalties for the incorrect return covering the year under review and previous years.
I also managed the whole of the Corporation Tax Section in the Middlesbrough and Stockton region.
Tax Investigation required a lot of interviewing skills to establish the facts once the records had been reviewed
I was in constant contact with both tax payers and agents
I also assisted people with their tax enquiries both on the telephone and in person
I believe these are the skills required for this position and have no qualms about interviewing or questioning people
Its been a long time if ever since I wrote a CV. I recently retired but still feel i have a lot to offer.
I do not want a full time job and understand that this is a part time position and feel confident I could do a good job with my previous experience.
