  • Attending Team Around the School meetings to take minutes and support the PFSA in ensuring that notes are recorded accurately.

March 2021 - Dec 2021 Maternity Cover for Student Health and Welfare Officer

  • In addition to my safeguarding and pastoral support duties, I undertook maternity cover for our SHWO. This included meeting regularly with students who were struggling with SEMH needs, liaising with parents, colleagues at Huish, and external professionals to ensure the support on offer was corroborative and led by the needs of the young person.
  • Manage the school medical room to see students presenting with illness or injury, assess them, offer advice, dress wounds, liaise with parents, contact emergency services where appropriate, and deal with any medical emergencies on site.
  • Attend SAMs as SHWO to help allocate appropriate support for young people discussed within the meetings.
  • During this time, we were still embedding the collaborative relationship with the Mental Health Support Team and their Educational Mental Health Practitioners, and I am proud to say that my efforts, along with the SHWO, enabled a smooth integration of their service and referral processes within our school.
