Accomplishments

I didn't set out to be in the care sector. When I left school with 2 gcse's I didn't know what direction to take. I had always had an interest in exotic animals, and fortunately I got a place in Medway College, studying care of exotic animals. I gained a pass for the course. Unfortunately we had to move up to Lincoln and I was offered a place in the vocational course of animal care (exotic). And i again gained a pass for the course. However a pass wasn't enough to get me a place on the 2nd year.

So I attended Lincoln College Open day and obtained a place on a 2yr business Studies course, which gave me a Level 2 in business studies.

When I left college I was struggling to find a job that used my qualifications. So my mum said to me that it is often easier to find your perfect job when you already have a job. So I answered an advertisement by the Residential home in my village, Wispington House. The job was for 2 nights a week. I thought I would be totally out of my altzhimers carezone. However, the owner/matron Heather saw something in me and she offered me an apprenticeship in health and social care of the elderly and dementia and altzhimers care.

I quickly realised that this was the my vocation. It was 2 years of hard physical and mental work, but I loved every second of my work. And I love every second of time when im working.

I left school with very little academically, but I have, through hard work manged to get a career in the care sector. I hope to train as a Senior Carer, and maybe even higher. But I am driven to be the best I can be, which to me is an accomplishment.
