Work history

Senior care assistant/ Care Home Practioner

Abbey Healthcare
Farnworth, Bolton
2016.08 - Current

In my current employment, I have worked my way upwards from a carer/activities coordinator to completing my health and social levels up to 4 and my Care Home Practitioner level while also completing my medication and phlebotomy competency. Also a trainer in BLS, Manual Handling, Fire safety and Dementia.

Held a senior role with responsibilities including team management, timekeeping, and providing up-to-date training sessions for staff and residents' safety. Each day requires me to carry out care plan updates, including new residents' full input, risk assessments, diet and fluid requirements, resident wellbeing and person-centred care are carried out.

Throughout the day I have to ensure staff feel supported as the environment can be quite hectic some days, we have a lot of different resident ailments including dementia, Parkinson's, MS, MND, palliative, brain injuries, stroke, so ensuring they have the equipment and staffing levels they require to carry out each task in hand will make sure the residents remain safe and happy while with us on the unit.

Co-ordinated with healthcare professionals to improve resident care outcomes and assisted others during emergency situations to minimise harm to all parties involved.

Built trust with families by maintaining confidentiality and professionalism in all situations.

Administered medications according to care plans and nursing team guidance while assisting with personal care to maintain comfort and dignity.

Domiciliary care worker

The Human Support Group

2015.09 - 2016.08

Mobilised around the public who were receiving homecare needs, assisted with some tasks of the individual ie washing, dressing, household tasks, maintaining a clean and safe environment while respecting their home in the process. Other calls would require medication administration, signing and documenting each item, more complex needs would require two members of the team to assist transfers, showers and personal care needs. This requires good communication and making the service user feel at ease and safe throughout the call.
