Bartender

Tavern
07.2021 - 07.2022
  • To work two different bar jobs at once while finishing my degree required me to be organised and efficient with my time.

Bartender, Head

Collingwood College Bar
04.2020 - 07.2022
  • A unique set of challenges were faced by me and my colleagues while working at a university college bar during a pandemic
  • These included the creation and maintenance of a COVID safe environment, within which we had to test ourselves regularly and keep customers at the bar in their household bubbles
  • Student run bars may seem to be a relaxed environment from a distance, and the atmosphere was enjoyable and friendly, but the work was demanding
  • Thankfully, my previous bar experience made the workload manageable, and I was also able to help newcomers to the job get a handle on bar work.
  • Served high customer volumes during special events, nights, and weekends.

Volunteer Charity Worker

Collingwood College, Epilepsy Action and RSACC
11.2021 - 06.2022
  • For two separate charity events I have commentated on football matches that were part of the day's fundraising
  • I first gained experience in this role commentating on an event held in commemoration of my friend, Daniel Scott, who passed from epilepsy last year
  • Due to my performance at this event, I was asked to commentate at another charity football event held at Collingwood College, a football game that continues for 24 hours
  • Both events raised thousands of pounds for their respective charities/
  • I was also happy to have the chance to develop my skills as a public speaker.

Bartender

The Ship’s Cat
08.2019 - 01.2020

  • I had no previous bar experience and had to cater to the needs of hundreds of customers all for the first time
  • After leaving the job to come to Durham, I was given the opportunity to return to work whenever I could
  • I took this opportunity and worked some of the most demanding days of the year, including Boxing Day and New Year’s Eve.

Waiter and Caterer

St James Park
08.2017 - 06.2019

  • I worked in the Moncur Suite, a busy restaurant style room that regularly hosted over two hundred customers
  • As Head Runner, my job was to coordinate eight other work colleagues in the replenishment and service of three separate buffet stations.
  • This greatly improved my time management skills and enhanced my ability to communicate effectively with others.

Production Assistant
