Role: Group leader, Title: Design and Construction of an Active Solar Food Dryer. Description: This research seeks to design and construct an Active Solar Food Dryer for domestic food preservation. The solar drying system utilizes solar energy to heat up air to dry foodstuff as a means of preserving Agricultural Products. The study concluded that the use of an active Solar Food Dryer, designed and constructed in this research is expected to dry 0.25kg of fresh okro from 52%, and6.3% wet basis in two days under ambient conditions, as compared to open sun drying Therefore, making active solar food dryer more efficient, effective and safer as compared to open Sun dryer Academic Specialisation Clinical Medical Equipment Technology(option) Power system Control and instrumentation
Title: Design and Analysis of a Solar Charge Controller and Battery.
From the test carried out, the following deductions were made. Many battery manufacturers will advise sizing the battery for cyclic applications to a maximum depth discharge of 50%. That Would mean doubling the size of the battery. Some batteries have trouble recovering from deep discharges, which means the 60 AH/Day load with 5 days of autonomy 300 AH that they would advise using a 600 AH battery. This study does not have this limitation. Thus, the battery is replaceable when it does not provide 80% of its original capacity. Therefore, recommended that the same 300 AH requirement should be divided by 0.80 to provide a reliable battery system.
