To support my passion of aviation, I completed a ten month programme with 'Fantasy Wings'. This was an eye opener and exceeded my expectations. I learned things about the aviation industry and being a pilot that I had not thought about prior to this. At the post course conference event, I won a trial flight as a result of my essay and video presentation that I submitted about my learning and goal of becoming a commercial airline pilot.
I am almost at the end of my Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award which will be complete once my skill strand has been achieved. Through this, the most challenging aspect was the expedition. I was nominated leader and managed to do the role effectively by thinking ahead, making sure everyone had a key responsibility, supporting my team, valuing their thoughts and ideas and constantly encouraging them even when we were faced with some tougher moments.
