I am a highly qualified and motivated doctor with a wide range of experience. Following 10 years as a consultant in obstetrics and gynaecology, I chose to gain additional qualifications as a GP.
Many of the skills needed as a consultant in gynaecology- dealing with pressure, making time critical decisions, often in an emotive environment, breaking bad news, clear and empathetic communication - all are skills that are transferable to being a GP. I am accredited for contraception care, coil and implant fittings and removals .
I am currently a GP partner i a surgery with 24,000 patients. My work involves Clinical GP sessions, on calls, and management - I am the lead GP for women’s health.
During my training as a GP I developed an interest in dementia care. I have completed a post graduate qualification recognised by secondary care and the ICB, that enables me to diagnose and prescribe cognitive enhancers where appropriate.
During my year as a salaried GP , I did a mix of e consult, telephone , face to face appointments. I also did a complex gynae clinic and was the care home lead - hence had regular contact and chaired the PCN fragility hub sessions in rotation .
I am a part time partner. I do a gynaecology specialist clinic as part of my job plan. Work involves all clinical and adminstrative responsibilities of a partnership role. I am contraception and women’s health lead and have weekly coil , contraception and women’s health clinics . I have adapted coil pathways and significantly improved efficiency and waiting times for coil insertion .
I worked 6 sessions a week. I did a complex gynae clinic weekly and was the care home lead for the surgery. I represented the surgery and chaired the PCN care home hub and frailty meetings every 3 weeks. GP sessions consisted of a mixture of telephone, e consults and F2F. I am familiar with EMIS, docman and acurex.
My general GP training included hospital posts and GP registrar . I obtained my MRCGP . I was awarded my CCT in September 2021. Within a short time I was offered a GP partnership where I do a weekly gynaecology clinic and am the lead for women’s health
Substantive consultant with special interest in colonoscopy and menopause
I provided contraception care, complex coil appointments, difficult implant removals, complex contraception care and provided mentoring and advice to our nursing team
Substantive consuktant in obs and Gyn
Special interest in obstetric medicine .
Was college tutor
I am an experienced clinician and have a wide range of experience My experience in obstetrics and gynaecology involved making decisions in a timely manner, communication, empathy and collaborative decision making- all of which are crucial being a good GP as well as contraception, sexual health and contraception care
I am a partner in a surgery with 24,000 patients I’m the lead for women’s health I do a regular clinic where I fit coils and implants and over the last few years have significantly reduced the waiting time for coil and implant procedures from 4 months to 4 weeks- following a change in pathways which I worked in and implemented
A post implementation audit revealed safe practice and a complaint and complication rate lower than the national average , hence offered better efficiency and safe care compared to the previous pathway
The training process for GP , was challenging- to go from the senior most to the least experienced member of the team was challenging, I think I demonstrated perseverance, courage, grit and flexibility during this phase I enjoyed my time in primary care and my feedback from patients and collegues has been positive
