My role involves helping care staff promote the philosophy of privacy, dignity, independence, choice, rights, and fulfillment for residents by guiding them in creating and delivering individualised activity and exercise programmes. The coach motivates staff, ensures everyone can benefit from activities, and supports residents to maintain active and fulfilling lives through tailored plans based on their interests and abilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Guide Staff: Motivate and provide direction to care staff on the home's activity programme.
• Promote Resident Well-being: Advocate for residents' rights, dignity, independence, and fulfillment in all activities.
• Individualised Programmes: Help staff create and implement activity and exercise programmes tailored to each resident's interests, abilities, and life experiences.
• Maximise Participation: Ensure residents are given opportunities to participate in activities where possible.
• Foster Individuality: Promote the principles of individuality throughout the activity programme, ensuring each resident can benefit in their own way.

In practical terms I am responsible for taking residents to hospital appointments, organising social such as concerts, meals and attendance at residents' family events. I am responsible for the logistics of the event - I transport the residents to the events in a specially-adapted mini-bus, some of whom are disabled and are wheelchair users and others who have complex needs.

As a St Johns Primary School Kenilworth Playworker I provided care and activities for children before and after school, including supervising play, setting up activities like arts and crafts, ensuring a safe environment, providing snacks, and communicating with parents. Key responsibilities included fostering positive relationships with children and parents, maintaining health and safety standards, supporting children's development through play, and working as part of a wider team within the school's policies.

As a WCS Care Home Carer I promoted resident well-being and independence by providing direct support with personal care, daily activities, and social engagement, while working as part of a dedicated team to ensure a positive, consistent environment and meet each person's unique needs. Key responsibilities included assisting with tasks like washing, dressing, and eating; fostering independence in daily routines; helping residents participate in activities; and maintaining positive communication with residents and families, aligning with the WCS Care philosophy of making a positive impact on residents' days.
