Regulatory Compliance and Permitting

  • Producing, obtaining and managing environmental permits such as Section 61 Consents, Flood Risk Activity Permits, Land Drainage Consents and EPS Licences for Bats, Badgers and Water Voles.
  • Liaison with regulatory bodies such as the Environment Agency, Environmental Health Officers and Natural England.
  • Assisted in the development and implementation of a Project Environmental Management Plan. Responsible for ensure planning permission commitments are briefed to the operations and Senior Leadership Teams.
  • Actively managing two large-scale construction projects in the Norfolk area whilst also managing a small team.

Mitigation Measures Implementation

  • Responsible for identifying sensitive environmental features and ensuring mitigation controls are implemented in line with construction activities and project program.
  • Ensuring that construction designs are modified to reduce ecological disruption.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all licences and consents are applied for in good time to avoid delays to construction program.
  • Responsible for ensuring wildlife protection measures are in place throughout the construction period.
  • Overseeing the installation and maintenance of dust suppression systems, silt and soil erosion controls, acoustic screening and noise/vibration monitoring systems.

Site Monitoring and Inspections

  • Implement ongoing site inspections and audits to ensure compliance with the Galliford Try's Environmental Management System and the projects Environmental Management Plan.

Documentation and Reporting

  • Responsible for maintaining environmental records of monitoring data, compliance checks, non-compliant incidents and corrective action and regulatory body and stakeholder communications.
  • Responsible for producing environmental reports and communications and presenting information to the client and Senior Leadership Teams.
  • Responsible for collating carbon reports to inform the client of project outputs.
  • Assisting in the management of environmental work package packages, ensuring that works are undertaken in line with contractual agreements. I have great commercial knowledge and have assisted in tender submission reviews and producing comprehensive scopes for environmental packages of works.

Training and Awareness

  • Responsible for training and upskilling the operational team on environmental policies, best practices, incident investigation findings and emergency response procedures.
  • Organised awareness campaigns to highlight the importance of environmental protection.
  • Fostered an environmentally conscious culture through regular employee workshops and training sessions.

Innovation and Improvement

  • Assisting in the management of environmental work packages
  • I currently lead on a number of environmental work packages, such as Species Rich Grassland Trials, Hydrogen Excavator trials, in-situ noise and vibration monitoring and water quality monitoring.
