This is my current job role based on the Transitional Care ward at Calderdale Royal Hospital. My role is supporting new mums and their unwell newborn babies. This is to allow mum and babies to remain together whilst still receiving specialist care and/or treatment.

My role includes:

  • mum and baby observations
  • performing mum and baby blood tests
  • supporting midwives with their workload
  • ensuring the work and ward areas are clean and tidy
  • escalating any concerns / abnormal observations to the multi disciplinary team.
  • assisting and supporting parents to improve parenting skills.
  • collaborating with multidisciplinary teams for effective care planning.
  • providing emotional support for new mums to support mental health
  • supporting and advising parents regarding various issues and signposting them to additional services.
  • striving to improve and enhance patient lives through effective and compassionate care.

Passionate animal lover especially canines I have owned dogs all my life I am used to multiple pet handling, walking 3 dogs at a time
